Keep rarity evidence useful, fair, and verifiable.
These guidelines define how we build a trustworthy collector community. They apply to catalog contributions, reviews, discussions, marketplace activity, and all interactions on RareAS.
Be respectful
Treat every collector, contributor, and community member with respect. Disagreements about rarity, condition, or value are normal in collecting — keep them constructive.
Do
- Engage in good-faith discussions about items and rarity
- Acknowledge different collecting perspectives and expertise
- Welcome new collectors and help them learn the platform
Don't
- Personal attacks, harassment, or intimidation
- Mocking collections, tastes, or budget ranges
- Doxxing or sharing private ownership information
Contribute accurate data
The RareAS catalog depends on community contributions. Accuracy and evidence matter more than speed. Every correction improves the platform for all collectors.
Do
- Cite sources when submitting rarity evidence or variant details
- Include photos, links, or documentation for provenance claims
- Flag errors you find rather than ignoring them
Don't
- Fabricate production numbers or rarity data
- Submit unverified claims as established facts
- Copy catalog data from other platforms without permission
No spam or manipulation
Keep the platform clean and trustworthy. Automated submissions, fake reviews, and market manipulation undermine the community.
Do
- Write genuine reviews based on your experience with items
- Use marketplace features for legitimate collecting activity
- Report suspicious activity through the proper channels
Don't
- Post promotional content disguised as reviews or discussions
- Create multiple accounts to inflate ratings or rarity claims
- Use bots or automated tools to scrape or submit data
Report issues properly
When you see content that violates guidelines or find catalog errors, use the built-in reporting tools. This helps our moderation team act quickly and fairly.
Do
- Use the Report button on items, reviews, and discussions
- Provide context and evidence when submitting reports
- Be patient while moderation reviews your report
Don't
- Abuse the report system for personal disputes
- Publicly accuse users without going through moderation
- Retaliate against users who report your content
Enforcement
What happens when guidelines are violated
Our moderation team reviews reports and applies proportional consequences. The goal is education and improvement, not punishment.
Warning
First-time or minor guideline violations receive a warning with an explanation of the issue.
Temporary restriction
Repeated violations or more serious offenses may result in temporary limits on contributions, reviews, or social features.
Account suspension
Severe or persistent violations may lead to account suspension. Suspended users can appeal through the support process.
Contributor code of conduct
Contributors who submit catalog data, corrections, variant information, and provenance evidence play a vital role in making RareAS trustworthy. We hold contributors to a higher standard because their work directly affects the accuracy of the platform.
As a contributor, you agree to: submit only data you believe to be accurate, cite your sources, respect intellectual property, accept moderation decisions gracefully, and avoid conflicts of interest when contributing data about items you are selling or trading.
Contributors who consistently provide high-quality, well-sourced data may earn recognition through the platform's contributor reputation system. Those who repeatedly submit inaccurate or misleading data may have their contribution privileges restricted.
